Runway defense

I'm also looking for information. I already have what is available on the Tinterweb.

I believe these are from WWII era and were also known as “Elsie’s” or “Red Elsie or ELC.

I'm specifically looking for details of the explosive fills, but any information would be good.

Interesting stuff. Operation Crabstick was the name given to the removal of this same kind of pipe mine from under the runway(s) of Eastleigh Airport, Southampton. I was not involved in it but believe it took a couple of months to clear, in the late 1980s?
