There is only little known about. Likely still classified in Russia.

The fuze is to function at a depth of 7-13 meters of depth and the charge weight is 140 gram.
Grenade weight 670 gram.

Signal Hand Grenade SRG-66 is designed to engage frogmen - underwater saboteurs, as well as for supplying acoustic signals to submarines submerged.

Charge function:
The switch is installed from the safety provisions П in the armed Б. Unscrew the safety cap. Throws a grenade into the water. Water penetrates into the grenade through the hole, pressing on the membrane.
Membrane at a pressure of the water begins to put pressure on the fuze mechanism. At a pressure of spring-loaded firing pin being released from the safety ball, impale capsule detonator which in turn initiates the main charge.

Hi Hootch and EOD,

have you perhaps the dimensions of this wonderful grenade ?

Yoda

WOW ... thats a nice looking grenade. We don't have a publication on this. You guys mind me using the pictures for an EOD 60 series publication?

Joe

A better 'mouse trap' - I guess it is no longer classified! :)
a half pound block will do the same thing. Better yet just keep the ship's propellors turning over, they will not get near it. Can you imagine what a diver thinks when he hears the props running? YIKES!
Fantastic images, you should have been a pro photographer.
Regards,
John

John,
these are used from moored ships and docks. They are getting thrown in irregular times and irregular patterns to keep hostile divers off a certain object.

They were also used when the US president visited Sevastopol for a meeting with the Russian president aboard a ship there. One can imagine the Russian's concern about security at that time.

I think with a little effort everybody can take proper photos.

I know, was just sounding off at how complicated life has become. I guess what I should have said is that there are cheaper ways of doing things.
Having dove under all kinds of ships I was always afraid of some engine room snipe not getting the word about divers being under the hull.
Regards,
John :)

P.s. Great photos of sectionals Hootch!

Cheaper way?

Just pour a bucket of "blood" over the ship side - every shark in miles around will be smelling the dinner call!!!

and if you want to "train" them, just stuff horse meat into a wetsuit and throw in over the side as well.....they'll get use to the chewie bits!!!!

Fantastic grenade!!!

Cheers
Drew
