This is also the only one I’ve seen in the UK .At a guess it’s around 50kg in weight so I bet to get one to the USA would cost a fortune as wellMy current understanding is that projectile is very hard to find. Some of the 122mm AP have made it as far as the USA, but I have yet to see the 152mm over here.
Just checked a 1944 Soviet manual, and the weight of the projectile is listed as 48.78 kg filled and fuzed. This is also the only one I’ve seen in the UK .At a guess it’s around 50kg in weight so I bet to get one to the USA would cost a fortune as well
You are right that mine is empty and has no fuse in the base just a hole but wrong about the weight see pic there is a towel on the scale also so deduct 1kgJust checked a 1944 Soviet manual, and the weight of the projectile is listed as 48.78 kg filled and fuzed.
So yours should be less than that as if there's no MD-7 fuze (≈130-140 g) and no substitute added for the normal ≈1.2 kg A-IX-2 high explosive filling.
I'm not wrong about the weight... the Russian manual isYou are right that mine is empty and has no fuse in the base just a hole but wrong about the weight see pic there is a towel on the scale also so deduct 1kg
After taking the weight of the towel off the weight is then around what you said but not full with fuse but empty and no fuseI'm not wrong about the weight... the Russian manual isWell Russian and Yugoslav manuals are I should say.
It has threads for the fuse and is hollow so far up . I was told the fuse was removed and left out when it was made inertWell, there's supposed to be a inert training version of the live projectile, the 53-BR-540-IN (53-БР-540-ИН), but I don't really have any info on it.
What's at the back end? A hollow cavity, which has a threaded upper area for a fuze, or something
