SD 4 HL tail fins difference

Hello to all just want to know why there are two differnt types of tail fins on the SD4 's I have one of each please see pic

Thank you Waff and US-subs. I wasn't sure whether or not they were like that for when being packed into the dispencer ie packing spacers etc might have fitted into the scolloped tail units some how.
