We recently had a week's holiday in Scotland. I saw this on Tobermory harbour wall. There used to be a similar thing, a bit slimmer and from WW1, on Hunstanton promenade, also used as a charity collection box.

There's also one of them at Tenby South Wales buy the harbour.
