Hello members

i found with my metal detector south of caen a bottom piece with screw shape of a 8inch artillery shell,

i am trying to know in battle of Normandy (British and canadian sector) which gun could have fired such a shell, here it is more than 20 km from the coast.

was it 8inch M1 and howitzers? I have read such M1 guns have equipped batteries of BEF in super heavy regiments in NW Europe and Italy, but I wonder if these were incorporeted just during the Rhine
Battle late in the war

In that case my bottom piece with screw shape of a 8inch artillery shell, would be one shell fired
from navy guns?

Any ideas, infos please welcome
