It looks very much like a Russian 76mm HE, but obviously not made in Russia. "356" could refer to UO-356 which is the HE round for the M1938 76mm mountain gun. Fuze is also not the standard Russian KTM-1 for a Russian shell.

Hmm, so that might fit with ThomasP’s thoughts that it might be German ie for captured weapons. It was the colour that also confused me as it appears to be original. I have not come across this fuze style before, it seems to missing a cap of some sort as there are exposed threads near the front end.
Thank you for that, takes me nearer to giving it a name!
