This design resulted from a Naval requirement to have a multiple equipment with more punch than the in-Service 8 barrelled 2 Pounder 'M' Mk VI. Designs of shell in 45mm and 47mm were drawn up. Designs date from January 1940. Hope it is of some interest.
 
Very interesting, Norman. Any idea what case was to be used with this? Do you know if any actually got made?

I have not found anything further in the OB procs yet. I'll let you know if I do.
