Small arms ammo pouch?

I have this brown leather pouch with brass stud closure that I think might have been part of a webbing set, possibly from the time of the Boer War (1899 - 1902) or WW1, probably British. Can anybody confirm this?

Pouch

It is not part of a webbing set. but for an officer's Sam Browne belt.

I am no expert on this sort of item but it looks like the standard case for pistol ammunition.
