Small WW1 bomb

Grzesio

Well-Known Member
A small bomb was discovered recently in central Poland, of teardrop shape and with a three piece body made of aluminium. The nose cap of the body was apparently screwed in.
The bomb was filled with TNT-like HE and equipped with a base fuse and booster. Its weight is said to be around 1 kg.
No fins were preserved, but riveted remains of fin fittings were visible on the body.

The bomb was disposed by EOD, so no dimensions are known, other than of the fuze, which is 74 mm long and 21/10 mm in diameter. It can be therefore assessed from the photos that the bomb body diameter was approx. 100 mm and length - 255 mm, while the complete body with fuze was approx. 295 mm long.

Coming from where the bomb was found, I suspect it could be German or Russian.
Any Ideas, please? :O
