Smoke Grenade Hgr. 39 Handle

Is this an original Hgr. 39 handle? Looks like a M24 handle that has been routed to look like one. Did the German's take M24 handles and alter them for the Hgr. 39?

image.jpgTo the best of my knowledge sticks were never altered. Now there are some smokes that had '24 handles that I believe most of the time a white band was used around middle of piece to differentiate HE from Smoke. Mostly though, they used a different handle altogether that had 2-3 ridges around lower third of handle (to differentiate by "feel") along with the white band. Looks like the one your post was '24 stick someone whittled ridges out of. Photo of mine attached
is not greatest example but I think you'll see what mean as it's surrounded by '24's

Thanks for the answers. The photo that were attached with your answer are the ones I have aways believed to be correct. I was suspicious that was why I put it on the form. They want over $800 for the grenade.

Another question about your photo. I have a practice grenade that is gold not red in color I have only seen one other like it on the web. Was wonder why. It is not a repaint, the gold is dull except on the lower part that screws onto the stick, the part would be protected, where it is still a bright color. Any thoughts on this.
