Hi,

Does anybody have any information on this grenades. They were supplied to the NZ army in the 80's by a company called Comet, who typically supply boating flares etc.

Cheers

The Comet is a german company. Now, with Pains-wessex, are a brand of Chemring Company Marine Division. The fuze is tipical from german production.

Hi, Thanks for the information. I've just got one with a melted fuze, but I think I have the correct spare. Is a NICO embossed lever the correct type? Thanks

I think the Nico lever is not correct; It will be better a lever from austrian design: Arges or Buck or Dynamit Nobel grenades

I will say this though. Whether it comes from: Pains-Wessex, Comet, Dynamit Nobel, or from Ikaros, they all are manufacturers of excellent Mariner Pyrotechnics and smoke emitting devices as well as other items. According to the SOLAS conference quite a while back, maybe in the 1970's or in the 1980's. This conference in which almost EVERBODY signed it held a lot of high standards and new quality control methods. Under our Law here in the US we had the Coast Guard standards that we all had to abide by were getting people killed in boats that have fires and/or sink quickly. SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) are by far the better of the two standards which everybody goes by now. The aforementioned companies make all of their products to be waterproof and a 100% reliable until the manufacturers expiration date. Therefore, personally, these companies all produce the best smoke grenades in the world bar none. Just IMHO of course and from personal experience.

Hi guy, Thanks for the comments and information. I also have an Arges embossed lever in the same design as the NICO lever , so I'll use that one . Cheers

Hi. I got the Comet today and it turns out I don't have a replacement fuze head of the correct type. With the original one being well melted, I now need a replacement. If you have such a spare please let me know. Cheers

Hi. All sorted. Thank you to those who were trying to find a fuze head for me. Comets arent rare or valuable, but theyve proved elusive for me to find, making this one a welcome addition to my collection. Cheers
