Thanks Norman. Any indication what these were for? Cleaning barrels to prevent smoke?

Tony, Regrettably not. I cannot find anything in SAC or OC minutes and my access to Research Department reports starts a couple of years too late in 1920. The only residual work going on by RD in 1920 is in connection with steel envelopes and seems to be associated with fouling research.
