Find from today, look's like fuze protection from german ammunition container...
but what caliber? what kind of projectile?

I think it belongs to the container of 10 cm Nb.W.40 .

What is exact diameter of this item? 8,8cm Flak ammo container has this kind of loose filler pieces when they are filled with AP-shells instead of HE-shells. This filler piece just falls on top of the fized HE-shell support ring.
