South Korean "Smoke shell"?

Can someone please explain to me what kind of charge is use in these beautiful air-burst shown on this webpage: http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/world/south-korean-tanks-blow-smoke-rings-photos-57396.html

In photo #2 the charges (I believe) are visible in the background just prior to exploding. From the smoke trails it looks like they are rocket propelled but the trail could also be from the burning fuze.

Do any of you guys know what kind of pyrotechnic is used?

Thanks for the link but not exactly, I am looking for the type of explosive that creates this brown smoke ring and the construction of the grenade. There are some very nice drawings on the site you provided but I do not know if the type of munitions used in the Korean/USA exercise is present I don't thinks so.

There is no doubt that they are discharged from the smoke discharger cups on the tanks. They are clearly visible in the air here:
