Bought some 35 years ago, this is what I have been using to store my pipe tobacco.
The engraving reads:
This casing is of a shell fired at Dunkirk which brought down a German Aeroplane which was bombing the town.
Subsequently made into a box and given to Urban H. Broughton
By Brigadier General R Mc Doall.
C.B .. C.M.G.. C.B.E.D.S.O
British Commandant at Dunkirk in 1919
