Do any of you have an example of the Soviet PMP AP mine that fires a 7.62x25 Tokarev cartridge? It is similar in design to the British .40 AP Switch mine. I am interested in the cartridge that it uses.
I have not seen pictures of this one before - Do you know if this was a WW2 item or developed afterwards?
I am also looking for information on the similar American WW2 OSS mine known as Anti-Personnel Device, Footshooter. According to Brunner, it used a .30 M1 Carbine cartridge, but was subsequently rejected by the OSS based on trials of the British .40 version in Burma.
I have some doubts whether this design is legit. To my knowledge, the cartridge case of a pistol or rifle round fails catastrophically, if set off not properly chambered. In fact, the brass shrapnel from the cartridge case is more dangerous than the projectile itself.
Or did they use special, very light loads for such mines?
