I have a practice cartridge for Spigot Mortar bombs made from a machined and cut down Madsen cartridge. It's headstamp is : MADSEN 20mm K 39 A.P does this mean it was originally an armour piercing round ? Tony.

29mm Carts

I have seen a number of converted Madsen carts used as propellant carts for the Bombard. I assume they were either left over from the pre-war trials or surplus cases were available at ICI when MD1 were looking for suitable cartridges. The pre-war Madsen 20mm had about a dozen loadings made by ICI including AP. Labbett and Mead cover this in one of their guides.

Thanks for that N, I have one good condition and a few relic parts from HE carts that appear to be purpose made, but not really my field, so not really sure. Tony.
