Stamping on MkVI ‘mitre cap’ primers

Please see the attached photos of naval primers manufactured by the Gramaphone Co.

But what are the stampings E within a diamond and the stampings on the shield (possibly E Co?)

any thoughts?

The "E" within the lozenge is a material stamp, the exact meaning of which I need to look up.

E in diamond - Stores accepted for Land Service without complete inspection and which require special examination after the War.

Why do you call these primer adapters "mitre-caps"? I haven't heard that term before.
What you show is the primer adapter for a percussion or electric tube/primer and the charge igniter.

Hi Graeme, it’s just a term that people use to describe these as opposed to other sorts of primers. I’ve often heard people use this term and picked it up from them. Perhaps it’s a South West ism! (It’s because they look a bit like a Bishops mitre)
