strange 20pr case

a friend of mine has this 20pr case.brass or copper closing disc soldered at the mouth,slot and hole that goes through to the inside,maybe for a fuse or electric det
anyone got any ideas

It could be a firing circuit tester.

yes that's a good suggestion,but wouldn't it be marked to show that,another idea I had was that it is for destroying the gun/tank buy putting explosive in the case and running an electric det through the hole and the wire would go out to a blasting machine?

That seems overcomplicated and risky, an incendiary grenade was standard for a long time. If that were the case your own logic would seem to require that it be marked?
