Strange Box Markings

I've been asked to ID this box. It has A100 on the lid and F211 I and a large N on the ends. It sounds naval to me and there is a naval fuze numbered 211. As you can see its been modified a bit. Can anyone ID the red diagonal stripes? Is it an official marking?

Yes there was a No 211 fuze in British service, and it was the Naval version of the no 208. Difficult to judge if the fuzes in containers would fit the spaces as no dimensions, but it looks possible.

211 with transit caps

As BD states your box would have been for Fuze No 211 Naval service, I am pretty sure that the fuzes were boxed with only a nose protective cap fitted.

I will most likely be corrected but the diagonal lines may indicate suitability for use in temperate climates only.
