Success on SA

Recently while doing my routine shopping through Specialist Auctions and having to scroll through all the replica and reproduction parts and grenades in the Hand and Rifle Grenade thread, I sent off an email asking for different tread for the repros.
Today I got my answer and they posted one up.
I must admit that the repro parts are nice pieces of work. Scary good. My problem is I wouldn't know the difference if I bought a Mills that had them on it. And in the future I feel I should have some in my collection and they could be bogus.
Anyways I'm happy for the new thread so that eventually they won't clutter the grenade thread.
I've now asked that the repros and replicas be moved and required to be posted in the proper thread.
Call me selfish.

Paul,

how, why, and who in the world IS IN THAT Picture! Must be some kind of Vaudville photo? Either way I am LMAO (substitute the "A" for arse). :questionmark::tinysmile_eyebrow_t

Hi,

what did SA say they would do? I cannot find anything different on the site as yet nor any comments on their forums?

Andy

When you open Ordnance and Related there is a Replicas and Reproductions thread.
I just asked them to move the present posts today. I don't know if they can or will.
Hopefully the Sellers use the new thread.

Thing is, especially with Mills bombs you almost have to be resigned to the fact that your only guarantee may be an original body. All parts are reproduced and they are well done. On the up side if one can buy an original body cheaply (working with a budget) he can then complete the grenade with repro innerds and keep the price down. I have no problem with a grenade with repro parts so long as the body is original and it is not mis-represented as being an entirely original grenade. I know there are varying opinions and there are many purists that will not have any repro parts on their grenades but it does offer an inexpensive option to complete a grenade....Dano

I was just using the Mills as an example.
My pet peeve is having Inert Ordnance threads polluted by things other than what I'm looking for such as home made parts, toys and totally unrelated items because the sellers put something in the title to give their "stuff" exposure.

Hi Jolly,
i may be missing the point here or just being plain stupid but i cannot see what you are on about re SA. I have not been able to find the 'thread' you mentioned re ordnance related items. If you look under grenades, all the same items appear including all the repro bits. Nothing has changed there and there is nothing about it under the Forum threads. They have a Militaria thread in their forums but i cant see anything there either so cant see what your comments have achieved. Look under 'ordnance' category and there is nothing at all about grenades, Mills or otherwise.
I must be a bit slow today but are you saying that they are going to put repro items on a different auction heading/category and place in their system cos they havnt done it yet.

Well done

I'm with you Jolly. Great idea, now you just need the sellers to get on board with it . At the moment in the S/A grenade section I reckon a good 30-40% is for repoductions and that is great that you are able to locate parts for restoration etc ,but like Jolly has said they need to be in there own section.
Regards Daryl

MORE success!
The new thread "Replicas and Reproductions" is catching on.
Could have something to do with an email asking the seller to use the new thread better showcase his wares.
