Supposed projectile from Thailand - but

This item was recovered by an EOD team in Thailand. Some call it a Japanese 8" others want t call it a UK 6". I do not see a rotating band. Material looks like stoneware isn't it? A large old bottle?

I would agree with Alpini, it looks like a salt glazed earthenware "item" not sure what though. The arrow looks like a Government property mark and the I for India. Could it be a Boundary marker??
