Tape on all ways fuses?

I have noticed that the all ways fuses used on the gammon, the no. 69, etc. often have what appears to be some form of tape on them, I would assume to keep the cap on them.

What would be an acceptable modern substitute for this tape material for my display grenades? Can anyone provide information on what the tape was made of?

I am referring to the tape that holds the cap on the grenades, rather than the tape wound around the inside of the fuse.

I believe that is what Paul was offering rather than the tape with the weight and pin.
Best regards Weasel.

The paper tape you are refering to was used for sealing up parcels, it is very simular to the lick seal on envolopes. Dave

69 Grenade

This is the best I can find that mentions the 2 x types of tape.
