The Great Lakes Cartridge Show was this past weekend and happily it is increasing in ordnance each year. I was very lucky and finished the weekend with some very good items. In some cases I had to buy as a group from the parking lot (8-inch, etc) but here are some of my more interesting finds, I may follow later with more.

Gordon, if you are seeing this, is the case correct for the 37mm proof? I have not seen either previously and it will be weeks before I can try and research it.

So many incredible specimens. WOW!

Some of the designs on many of these I have never seen before. The flutted projectile on what I "guess," is a 30mm round is wild. The APFSDS in the first picture is also really nice. I think the dart is backwards, but amazing. The Bombatorium, is the, Smithsonian of Ordnance.

Picked up a couple of new items yesterday. I've got some other projects running so it will be a while before I can get everything cleaned up and on the shelves. In the meantime I wanted to get some pictures out. I'm looking for an ID on one grenade and a dust-collector memento piece.
The Korean grenade is small, about half way between an M67 and a V40. I have no info, but could it be a Korean Hanwah K-400 Fragmentation? The dust collector is a well made miniature projectile mounted on a heavy steel plate, with a disk showing two (German?) gentlemen who are so far unidentified. Any details would be welcome. There is a very light inscription scratched into the steel, but it is difficult to see and photograph. I've attempted to get an image, but may need to eventually disassemble it to read fully. The M1923 grenade appears to be dated 1948, and I have no idea what the gyro is for, though it appears to be air driven. The 4.5-inch rocket cutaway is from an M8.

I think US Subs said it was "about half way between an M67 and a V40". As such the K410 seem less likely, as that is a bit bigger.

At a guess its the K479 training grenade, which is nominally 54 mm in diameter and 70 mm high.

A comparison of US-Subs photo, which has been rotated, and the Koryo Pyrotechnics K479 is below. Other than the production details, text in each grenade's markings seem to be pretty close, if not identical.



The K479 seems to be of a similar size to the K413 preformed fragmentation hand grenade (see below).



A K401 training grenade can be seen next to the K413.

John, the attic will be used for general storage - since I expect to have enough room for a change I'm not sure what specifically I need it for, but you can never have enough storage space. It was dead area and built more than strong enough, so I couldn't resist.

GI J, there is discussion about an open-house/grand opening, but we still don't know how long till its finished, I build more shelves, get moved in, etc, so the date is up in the air. Stay tuned.

Pretty good, for a while. We are still finding room, though we are needing to become more and more creative to do it...

A couple hundred new acquisitions since the last post. The collection is a mess as I continue to sort through parts of several major purchases this year, clearing items for placement on the shelves and determining what will need to move on. At the same time new pieces trickle in, with over a dozen new items last weekend. Here are a couple of projectiles that I had never come across before, for the 7-inch gun. A Navy piece around 1900, it also saw limited use with both the USMC and the Army in ground versions just after the war.

Got this fuze in recently with a group of grenades. Looks like a mortar piece to me, but I've no idea whose or for what. Anyone recognize it?
