Who can show pictures showing the differences between the WW1 stokes GUNS base plates (british and french)


french army used the stokes in 1918


what are the variations ?

Hi,
I think that the 3 inch Stokes mortar in Musee de l'Armee in Paris is from the French army and has a slightly different base-plate from the normal (British) Stokes mortar. It has been formed into a shape which presents the base-plate at the correct angle. The Americans introduced a cast steel base-plate which was also different.
