Picked these up today, a practice 12 Pr and primer for the casing. Nice paint with the yellow band. The plug in the base comes out to reveal, well nothing - just a hole that looks like you could fit a tracer as the projectile is other wise quite solid.
The 2pr AP is nothing unusual, 1942.

The Bofors clip is marked;

U.S. NAVY - BUORD / CONTRACT NORD 6940
40 MM CLIP MK 4 / DRAWING NO 330741

BUORD is actually how it is spelt on the clip !

Is this a normal marking or early war issue ?

Nice finds Gordon,could you provide the info stamped on the 2 pdr shot please,and show what trace cavity is fitted? cheers tig.

Yes , nice finds.
Good to see a complete protruding primer and the practice proj. too.
Is there a date on the 12pr proj.?
Cheers
Bob

12 Pr is dated 6 - 42, it also has some very small inspection markings down one side.

2 pr markings are AP 2Pr Vl T STC (or S small T O) IC?6 BS E (orB) 51C 6-42 ^ JB R then upside down L

these items are not keepers, though the 12 Pr doesn't take much room. I still don't understand the idea behind that primer design ?

Hey Gordon,

That external primer is a great find! The 12 Pdr is a great prize too!
