Evening to you all

Given to me recently a 3.7in shell base, typically made into an ash tray with an old penny mounted in the centre.
Some nice markings present.
(if some one wants to explain them...)

I'm a smoker (boo i hear you cry) so i use it everyday.

How about use this thread to post 'trench art' stuff folk have got?

Its not really my kind of thing, but you dont refuse a freebie now do you!!:tinysmile_twink_t2:

egypt trench art

Not ordnance art but heres an ashtray my Grandfather made after "procuring" a piece of aluminium from a blenheim bomber that crash landed at Helwan air field during WW2. The picture hasnt come out as well as i would have liked but then the stamping isnt very deep either. Just thought id put a pic up. I dont have alot of ordnance but alot of interesting items from Al-alamein, Crete, Egypt etc. Grandad liked to "rat around" :) And iv got abit of a collection of Live firing Weapons. (fully legal in NewZealand).....(for now anyway.....) Anyone interested in SLRs, Aks, etc? My favourite Pistol in my collection is a .45 Ballester molina issued to the Armada Argentina :)

Here's mine a nice 18 Pdr.

Has original plating, a very much above average base. It looks like it held a glass open shade. I haven't found one so may use a repainted helmet body as a shade. Body dated 1917. The fuze is a dummy.

....

Not in the same league as the above item......... Gunners always had alot more spare time on their hands compared to Infantry....:tinysmile_classes_t

I have seen so many unfilled

18 Pdrs over here that I think it would explain the great shell shortage. I think most are post war reworks, though I have seen one wartime fundraiser. Some are clearly made in a factory or small shop, some are home made looking.
