May I request our member's help with the identification of these? They have been offered for sale to me. Does anyone desire them in their collection? Thank you.

The first case is for an anti submarine weapon such as Limbo, or Anti Submarine Mortar Mark 10 (A/S Mk.10).

The case as Tim has said is for the A/S Mortar
It was used for the Practice Mk4 light projectile

Hope this info helps

Steve,

Please enlighten me as how you can identify it as being for the Mk 4 light projectile?

Thanks

TimG

The Anti-Submarine Mortar Mark 10, also known as "Limbo" replaced the Squid A/S mortar. The A/S 10 when firing light practice bombs used a sub-calibre breech adaptor to accept the older, smaller, Squid propelling cartridge. Original Squid cases were re-used plus newly manufactured cases. A case made in the 1960's is probably for the A/S 10 light bombs rather than the obsolete Squid.

Hi Tim Have the info you need about the Projectile A/S

1 The HE MK6 Projectile( Bronze Green ) Fuzed weighed aprox 392lbs +or- 2lbs It used the 29 ozs propellant cartridge

2 The Practice Mk4 Projectile ( Yellow) weighed aprox 130 ish lbs It used the 11 ozs propellant cartridge This weapon was reusable

3 Have a look at this youtube film ROYAL NAVY 1960s COLD WAR PROMOTIONAL FILM "1400 ZULU" 71062 It shows the MK4 Projectile being fired

4 The 2 size cases could be reworked for reusing

Hope this info helps
