Been working on a US 57mm T18E2 relic condition for a while. Since it's my first go, don't expect too much. It started with a round similar to this (didn't think of photographing the process till recently):
Then I bead blasted;
Next step was to add epoxy filler. Protected the rotating band with electricians tape since it could stretch:
Spray painted first using regular gray primer and then the color, RAPCO-23070 WWII Semi-Gloss Olive Drab (the closest I could find to WWII ordnance color):
Last, applied stenciling. Regular Rust-Oleum Sunburst Yellow 7747. Used RibType TU75 (3/8") stencils. The gentleman at ACE Marking Devices was especially helpful getting what I needed together. Rolled the round over the stencils as was suggested here in by others in prior posts on refurbishing:
And the finished product topped by a replica M86 PD Fuze I had made up a few years ago. Not over yet, though. Just bought the 1/16" stamps for the fuze letters and numbers:
Further projects coming up, like a 75mm Sky Sweeper HE, and 90mm T-91 HE's. Cheers, Bruce.
