The also work as nose fuzes in all of the WWII era U.S. bombs (100 LB thru 2,000LB.) The were used in vietnam on WWII surplus bombs. That's why the thread diameter is so small, so they could interchange with the M103 series.

Photo shows an ANM-57 250 LB. Bomb with the M904. Second photo, the same bomb with a MK 81 250 LB. Destructor above it.
