U.S. WWI MKI unthreaded thrower

Pictured here is the only U.S. WWI MKI thrower I have that is not the 5 lug thrower with molded in handle model (those appear to have doubt whether they were released in WW1 or not. The one pictured has the "F" Within a diamond and what may be a # 11 cast in above that. this has not been repainted and both top and bottom openings are un-threaded. Heard these referred to as unfinished "lunchbox" grenades, throwing dummies, practice grenades and just about everything in between. I think I got it for about 60.00U.S. which I think is a more than fair price. What i'm looking for is comments to the usage and purpose. Beside the obvious what are the possibilities. Not my favorite grenade by any stretch of the imagination, but I sure do like it and it has a definate place in the collection. I have a resin replica MKI fuze that would fit nicely on this one for display purposes but this may (with pricing and all) be as close as i'll ever come to a complete MKI grenade......Dano
