Undocumented 1.1-inch/75 caliber AP-T

Here are some photographs of the second undocumented USN 1.10 inch/75 caliber round to appear on BOCN. This is an AP-T projectile that still retains its original tracer element. The projectile is totally unmarked other then the stenciled 1.1 AA AP-T. The brass casing is dated 1938. So now we have proof of three types of ammunition used in the 1.10-inch AA gun, HE-T, APC & AP-T.

Best regards,

Randall

Were these used much ?

Maybe not as heavy hitting as 40mm, but still four barrels is not to be laughed at.

Hello Gordon,

I've never found ANY reference information ever mentioning an AP-T or for that matter an APC round. The only documented ammunition data deals with the HE-T with its super sensitive PD fuze. Needless to say, the AP-T is sure a nice Christmas present!

Take care,

Randall
