hi chaps, this is a 1.75 inch illuminating flare No.1 Mk1 dated 1957. I know this because it says so on the side. Its 10 inches long and has S&SB stencilled on the base. It was made by Wallop Industries. Any ideas about what it was used for or fired from?

many thanks, Dave

They were used in the Canberra aircraft as 'Photo flash'.
I've got a couple, but have never found one with the 'by the book' markings, should have a colour band near the mouth.
