Can anyone please confirm the identity of this metal ammunition box. It is in Canada and presumably of Canadian manufacture.
Preliminary guess is a naval magazine storage container.
Stamped into the case are NC2 MK1 GBE CAN 1953 & 1954. At a guess NC2 Mk1 is the container number, GBE Can is the manufacturer and 1953 is the year of manufacture (or contract).
It measures 12 x 12 x 14.5 inches high. Length suggests a 4-inch (roughly) bag charge.
Tall olive green rectangular case with carrying handles on the side and lid at top.
