That is beautiful. The workmanship is excellent. It is definitely not US made - nothing like it in any of the US manuals. I had to make my own .22 subcaliber device to shoot in my 37mm guns. It looks to be approx. .30 caliber or 7.62mm. I would shoot with it regularly if it were mine.
 
It isn't necessarily a U.S. caliber. My 57mm Recoilless device isn't chambered for U.S. cartridges.
 
I tried to insert different cartridges. Finally, the only suitable 8x50R Lebel cartridge. This adaptation would be French ... If someone has information ... Thank you
