Unknown projectile ? UP MK10/ ?"

Hi,

I found this unknown projectile on an auction site (bid.candtauctions.co.uk)
Dimensions unknown, markings incomplete "...UP MK10/..." (as in break-up maybe ?)

Does someone knows what kind on munition it is ?

In the absence of dimensions, it appears very much to be a "Break Up" round for 40mm Bofors. The projectile is made of Bakelite and weighted with lead shot. Used for gunnery training.

Eggburt1969, I had forgotten about that IAA post so thanks for sharing the photos.
That Australian Break-up is broken as shown but looks good in a case. Quite scarce and I have not found a replacement yet.
Here is some more photos and info from 1987 HMAS Cerberus Gunnery School "Basic Gunnery Locate Ammunition" book. Very basic info covers 40,76mm,4.5" & 5" ammo.

I do not know the difference between Break-up Mk10 and 10/2. Dates shown are from 1968, 1974 & 1984.
Interesting info about gauging before use and toxic warning.
