I received this as part of a group of items. It is slightly less than three inches in diameter. I am going to guess it is missing a base plate and a driving band. Probably pre-1900 manufacture. May I request your help in identifying it?
With the benefit of a little research, I am now thinking a US Civil War vintage round for a three inch, rifled, muzzle loading cannon. It needs a tapered base of lead or paper mache.
