Unknown 20mm Oerlikon Case Loading

This round is a puzzle to me. The case is 82mm long and headstamped BK 42 a 40. The projectile is the question. It is solid aluminum with a copper nose plug and a copper rotating band. No markings on it. If it is homemade the guy should open an arsenal because t is a really well made and machined projectile. The BK I assume is AG, Wuppertal-Oberbarmen, Altenburg Plant, Germany. As light as the projectile is I would say it would have a rather short range. I know someone out there can comment on the loading.

In the 90's a few of these experimental projectiles were found at Rechlin but we are not sure what case the projectiles
were destined for. I have the solid aluminium "M" projectile with solid steel nose plug which is for certain for the FFM.
Your particular projectile is depicted in Franz Petter's book (page 361) next to a solid aluminium projectile that I have in my collection. If you measure from the tip to the underside of the driving band I recon it will be 69 mm which is 3.8 mm longer than the standard PzGr. Check that the cannelure lines-up to the case crimps..... mine does not!
Back then the diggers and divers were just stuffing any old projectile into any old case they found - to command a higher price of course! They might not even be German-made I saw French cased, Hispano 404 rounds coming out, fitted with German 2cm practice Minen projectiles!

Thanks for the information. I do not have Franz Petter's book. Can someone post a copy of page 361 please.
