Hello All,
I recently picked up this inert projectile which bears similarity to a 2 Pdr Naval round but is slightly longer than the practice round I already have in my collection. It is quite badly pitted & no markings or paint details remain. The fuze plug is likewise unmarked & measures 51mm overall with 40mm between the blunt nose & shoulder of the threaded portion.
Dimensions are as follows:
Overall length: 162mm
Diameter: 39.7mm
Driving band groove width: 15mm
Crimping Groove Width: 5mm
Distance between D/B groove & crimp groove: 7mm
Distance between crimp groove & shell base: 7mm
Any help with identifying it would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Ian.
