Unknown 40mm grenade? Help!

I picked this up in a mixed lot of other items that were from various countries. So I have no clue. It measures similar to a 40mm grenades, shown with a low velocity cartridge. The unknown one weighs quite a bit heavier like a high velocity cartridge. I've not had any luck finding anything similar to this so any help is greatly appreciated.

I can't believe nobody has had any input on this! I'm stumped.

The nosecone did unscrew. Nosecone was empty. The main body of this one was full of orange chalk. There is a round metal disk that kept the chalk from going into the nosecone.

I do not know what grenade this is.
Perhaps a new variation for the Russian Balkan grenade launcher or some new grenade type?
Can you show the plastic ? base with rim in a photo please. Sorry I cannot help you but you deserve to get a reply.

More photos... Note the body has two holes that extend into the propellant chamber at an angle that would add rotation in the same direction as the rifling spin.

It's a long shot but maybe a prototype for the 40 mm penetrating round? Given the damage of the nose cone.

I have an almost identical round, except mine has a convention rounded ogive. First round I have seen with that profile of an ogive. If I recall, I got mine back in the late 70's, which predates the space detecting experiments above. Mine, like yours, has no identifying marks or clues as to who made it. I have three different rocket assist loadings and only one has the manufacturer's name.
