Any ideas on this 6-Inch trench mortar?

Length 525-MM

Stamped on the side was Chadwich Bolton Eng.

6 inch Newton mortar. They came in a number of different designs and calibres (3, 4 and 6 inch), made from cast steel.

I'm away from my docs at the moment, but i'm sure someone will post additional information.

Chris,

I don't think that is the right one. The fins on the one you show are the same diameter as the body. The fins on the mystery one are much smaller than body diameter. The ogive on the mystery one is very curved with large radius, and your drawing shows a relatively square shoulder with small radius.

It's the same item, just a different Mk.
When I'm back ill dig out the docs and some photographs of the different Mks.
