Unknown 81mm nationality

Looking for some help establishing what type of round this is. All markings are included in the pictures attached. I was told it was a US M-17, but the markings aren't consistent to what I've seen on American Brandt type 81's. Please ignore the paint scheme, it came to me unfinished. The primer on there now is just keeping the rust at bay. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks! Was leaning towards French or maybe Italian... I meant to add that the shell came to me without any paint at all on it. What's on there now is a base primer until I can find out what shell it actually is. Again, thanks for the response!
