Unknown brass tube

This tube is 25mm in diameter and 305mm long. Has the Naval N mark with one end closed with petals. Completely inert. Anyone know what it is?

In the Directory of engineering firms for the Great War there is Edwards Bros of the Excelsior Works, Samson Rd North, Birmingham.

Their listing shows bomb components, exploders, delays, relays, plugs, fuzes, gaines, tracers, powder case keys, primers for mines & depth charges.

I wonder if the tube relates to the latter pieces?

it is the booster from a ww1 16lbs HE AIR DROP BOMB

This is very similar to what we find in the central gaine of 230-pound bombs.
The central tube (your picture) receives relay detonators between each tube placed end to end in the central gaine of the bomb.
