Hello does anyone know what this shortened 30mm Australian (presumably) case is for?
Thanks. Dimensions as for Aden or Defa revolver cartridge case but only 51.5mm long. Note burn on case.
Its a 30mm RAKED EOD disruptor cartridge.
You are right, it is derived from the DEFA casing. Some of them have small 'petals' to form a cover over the mouth, this one would have had a wad closure.
Some RAKED cartridges. Early type is as you have 30x52B. 1974-78 noted. Some marked RAKED, others DEFA headstamp.
Later type is 12 petals 30x61B. 54.5mm loaded length. Wires are usually broken off when found.
Shown is 30MM EOD F1. M9. 8g Loaded 1989 using an 84 DEFA case. 84-86 cases noted.
