unknown Cartridge Case. Maybe a Photoflash?

I have an unknown cartridge case that I think may be a photo-flash case but does not match any USA references I have.
The headstamp is B&SB. 6/53. The case is gold coloured aluminium? Looks like electric primed. Odd rim extractor groove.
It is 260mm (10 1/4") long. 44.5mm (1 3/4") Diameter. 50.3mm (2") Rim. 1.8mm Thick Rim.

I have B&SB as a maker on various L series 1" Flare cartridges. Is this British or German made for the UK? Who is B&SB ?.
Made in 1953, I believe this is some type of signal or photo-flash cartridge but await some expert identification.

Better known as “Swan Brand” – especially for their electric kettles. The company was responsible for inventing the electric cut-out connector. If the kettle overheated, it would be automatically switched off. Ordnance wise, best known for their Bulpitt cylinders, containers for fuzes.
