Unknown glass ampoule detonator

Hello everyone!

I have been lurking around in this forum for a while, and I must say that I'm impressed by the knowledge shared!

Here is a strange object that was shown to me by a fellow collector. The glass ampoule is about 9 cm long and contains some sort of yellowish thin liquid (petrol?). The fuse is connected to what seems to be a detonator inside the ampoule.
It all came wrapped in a cardboard tube.

Can anyone shed some light on this object?

What you have is a German Reizkorper used for gas mask test.
This one is in great condition.

I cannot read that small print. Does it say what kind of gas is in the tube?
