Spgr30 has probably nailed this. A few more photographs would be helpful. The Woolwich No 1 and No 2 grenades represent the start of Humphries work on the allways fuze and lead to the No 247 used in WW2 with much development between. It is recorded that Humphries based his initial design on a German allways mortar fuze but I have not worked out which one (1916 vintage). Nice item.
