Unknown Japanese casing

I picked this up, but I'm weak on the subject of ww2 Japanese cases ~
It was identified as French ! quite a leap of thought in my mind given the markings.
What is it for ?
Diameter of base is 93mm, over all length is 49.3cm (19 1/2") calibre is about 75mm
(some distortion).

From your photos, it looks like the standard 3 inch AAA case. Just going by length to width ratio.
 
Ogreve has a nice article about the F marking, more about the grade of brass than French,but if the means you got it cheap, good on you!
 
I paid $80 cdn, so I'm not sure ~

The booth that had it always over prices but maybe not this time ~
 
I have listed the casing on Gun Broker, I think it would be too expensive to post
overseas as it's not perhaps rare enough to warrant that. Also there seems to be
no interest in Canada for it, or at least at yesterdays show ~
