Unknown Mortar Identification.

Hey guys, still having a spot of bother trying to identify this item, just wondered if anyone recognises it or not?

Wow that is unusual a sort of semi Armour Piercing High Explosive Mortar.
An experimental item perhaps for a specialist target ??
Is that a 162 Fuze in the end?

Good point Yodamaster !
No propelling charge method is visible so it does not leave much other than compressed gas propulsion!

Are you certain that it is a mortar? While it has a typical shape, there seem to be very few flash holes for the ignition cartridge, much less than normal for efficient functioning. The normal ID feature for a mortar is the flash holes, and when you see less than normal they are typically much larger than normal. Not in this case.

To me it looks like an aerial bomb from WWI-WWII. It looks to have a few featurers of an aerial bomb. Maybe Dano can identify it as such. Just my $0.002 worth.

Good, more I look on this ammunition, more I found it very strange !
No propulsion system, an impact fuze with sensitive crushing striker (tin or cooper head) under a hard, penetrating nose !!!!!
I think more on a experimental ammunition.
